Welcome to

In the realm of musical composition and piano virtuosity, Don Harriss stands out, having first captivated audiences back in ’88 with his debut record, “Elevations,” released under the Sonic Atmospheres label. From that point on, his rich musical tapestry has continued to expand, weaving threads from his classical education, rocking out with Pat Travers and Ronnie Hawkins, and scoring for the corporate film industry. Harriss’ tunes possess an enchanting allure, drawing listeners into a refreshing sonic landscape they’ll yearn to return to time and again.

A master of his craft, Harriss boasts several Billboard chart-toppers, such as “Abacus Moon,” “Shell Game,” and “Vanishing Point.” These gems scaled the heights of national New Adult Contemporary charts and graced the Top 10 on both The MAC Report and Jazziz magazine. Radio stations like The Wave and The Breeze, as well as syndicated programs like Hearts of Space and Soundscapes, have given his tracks ample airtime. What’s more, a number of these albums earned spots on “Best of” Top 10 lists, as decided by radio stations and journalists. The latest offering, “Hero’s Welcome,” has garnered rave reviews in Keyboard Magazine and Metaphysical Reviews.

Harriss‘ musical journey spans a plethora of experiences. Beyond his Billboard-charting albums, he has arranged theater music for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and served as their staff musician for four seasons. Discovery Channel soundtracks bear his creative touch, as do music cues for video produced in collaboration with several San Francisco area advertising agencies. Don has penned seven hours of original compositions in various styles in the music library genre, and he has adeptly produced, engineered, and mastered projects for a variety of artists across San Francisco, Los Angeles, and at his Ashland, Oregon studio, Orbital Arts Media.

In 2020, the feature film “ZOOEY” showcased Harriss’ scoring talents and was distributed on Amazon Prime. At present, he is immersed in the creation of an original symphonic piece for a full orchestra, bound to captivate and enthrall listeners as his past work has done.

“I remember liking Harriss’s 1989 new age synth release Abacus Moon. His first solo piano CD is a sparkler. The vaguely Chopinesque pieces are tuneful and easy to listen to, Harriss’s keyboard touch is confident, and the production (recorded at Chick Corea’s Mad Hatter studio) is flawless.”

Jim Aiken, KEYBOARD Magazine

‘…he is light-years ahead of most adult contemporary synthesists in his sophisticated use of texture and sound.’
